UGHHHH!!!!
I am so sick of Facebook. What fun is it now when EVERY SINGLE family member has it so I have to censor EVERYTHING about it! Whether it's my pictures, videos, status, or comments I have to watch everything I say. I think that eight year old boys should not be allowed to access Facebook, yet for some reason my eight year old brother has an account. There is something that should be done about this, esp. since it started for COLLEGE STUDENTS!! ie. my eighty year old grandfather should NOT have a Facebook. I am really comtemplating on deleting my account... but I have said that for so long now. Mark Z. is a genius in creating this social media site, but think of how many people are actually addicted to Facebook, spending hours and hours a day searching through OTHER PEOPLES lives. Now that I think about it, it's pretty sad actually. Does anyone else feel this way or am I just crazy?

I completely agree! All my aunts have facebook and they comment or 'like' EVERY SINGLE THING. It's rediculous, I just defriended all of them because I couldn't take it then they all ask me why. If I wanted them to know about my life i would tell them. Facebook should just be for college students, its creepy with little kids on it and kind of dangerous. The information they ask of is too much, like people put their phone numbers on it and addresses! Who does that?!
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree with you my dad is on it and I was surprised, gladly he gives me my privacy by not adding me or requesting such a thing from me. Similarly, I don't even add distant relatives in there my facebook is just for friends.
ReplyDeleteFacebook USED to be just for college kids...until the creators realized their start-up base was going to graduate and be locked out....expanding the demographic was inevitable at that point...and the call for a "college-only" hangout once again is also inevitable....so it's up to YOU ALL to sort out the 'next big thing'....twitter never really caught on w/ college folks (we profs make students tweet...sometimes under protest!), so that's not it....
ReplyDeleteI was just talking about how annoying this is. I recently went to a wedding in Vermont and nearly everyone from my mom's side of the family was there. Now i get home and everyone's sending me friend requests. I mess around with my privacy settings because every time i did anything it would come up in conversation with someone else in the family. My aunt calls my mom just to chat and when she gets off the phone it's "why does your status say ......" or, "i didn't know you were talking to ..... again". Ummm number 1- why does it matter 2- why do you care....
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriends aunt found me o FB and all she does in comment on every little thing i do. And she told people that i was quote "party girl" (which could not be further from the truth) because she found like 3 pictures of me at a party with my friends. I like never drink, barely even ever go out because im so busy. I'm like the most boring person on the planet and now i have to explain myself to my boyfriends fam. :(
I am glad to see that other people feel the same way... I am serously contemplating on deleting it. Dr. B- you make a valid point as to why Facebook expanded its user base. But that shouldn't allow for younger children (High School and under) the use of Facebook if the reason its expansion is due to the fact that the kids who started its fan base began in college and are now graduated. My eight year old brother has it and he is friends with some of MY 22 year old friends... I can only imagine what he is reading.
